Creative Documentary Wedding Photography

Hi. Thanks for dropping by.  I'm a professional wedding photographer based in Swords, Co Dublin and  I specialise in wedding photography (including engagement photo shoots) all over Ireland particularly in the surrounding counties of Dublin such as Meath, Kildare, Louth and Wicklow.  However, I also cover the rest of Europe and every year I photograph various international weddings.

In a nutshell, I specialise in creating candid wedding photos or in other words, I use a creative documentary (fly on the wall) approach to my work resulting in really natural photographs of all the happenings on your wedding day.  I aim to ensure that my photography is discrete, that it captures totally relaxed, natural expressions of you and your guests.  I'm skilled in anticipating and photographing the emotions of your day, allowing me to capture the memories you will want to remember for years to come.

My modern reportage style covers everything from the excitement and the details of getting ready for your big day, through the emotional ceremony and some creative portraits, to you and your guests enjoying your reception.  For the most part of the day you and your guests, won’t even know I am there when I take the photo. Therefore your photos are more spontaneous, authentic and right in the moment.

I cater for all types of weddings - civil ceremonies or traditional church weddings as well as gay and lesbian weddings anywhere in Ireland.  My typical clients are couples who appreciate good photography and an excellent service but do not want the traditional style of posed wedding photographs.  Rather something more natural and discrete that will tell the story of their day.

I won't take you away for hours...!

I'm not one of those photographers that will take you away from your guests for hours on end.  If you do wish to include some photos of just the two of you away from your guests, I just need a short time and I aim to make this time as chilled and enjoyable as possible.

For your portraits, I'm about keeping it natural.  I really don't like to pose people.  In fact, I hate the word.  Instead I give a little bit of direction by saying 'walk down here away from the camera' or 'stand here and chat to each other'.  (If I feel that you perhaps need a little more direction or for example you are standing in a way that is not complimentary, then I will of course help you).  Whilst standing away at a distance with a long lens, I'll then capture some moments when your expressions and postures come together naturally.  This always works and it keeps things really natural for every couple.  Rarely are you even looking at the camera.  With this relaxed approach you can really enjoy your day, focusing on the real events as they happen!  And after all, if you enjoy the session this will come across in the photos.

In preparation for any wedding, I will try and get to know you both as much as possible beforehand thereby ensuring that you are more relaxed with me on your wedding day. This ensures that we can achieve more natural, intimate style photographs and have a laugh doing so....!

Having said all that there are of course some couples who are a little bit more comfortable in front of the camera and would like some more posed, dramatic or fashiony (if thats a real word...!) type of photographs.  If so, no problem....  You just have to say and we will plan for this in advance...!

I'm constantly looking out for emotions

Weddings are emotional roller coasters and I'm there to discretely capture them.  I am always on the lookout for moments of emotion.

I believe they represent the best highlights and story of your day. For some, that might mean enjoying a laugh together, for others it might mean wiping a tear away or an emotional parent.  Either way, I'm always watching.

Featured weddings

Planning for a wedding is a lot of hard work. Lots of decisions go into finding the right colours, picking the right flowers, choosing which jewellery to wear and of course many other elements of the day.

I'm all about details and as your photographer, I will do my very best to capture all of these.

This is why you will see a lot of detail shots in my portfolio.

The party

Receptions are a lot more than food and cake cutting.  I can be there for all of it.  I can document the speeches, laughter, killer dance moves, and emotions of all your friends and family.

I normally stay until the first few dances but if desired I can stay for an extra hour or so.

If the conditions allow it and you want to, maybe we can try for some sunset shots...

Capturing the beautiful painted skies of a sunset, while properly lighting a couple, requires a specialised skill set. This is something I love doing and it only takes a few minutes.

It might be a nice crisp silhouette, or you both lit perfectly as a couple against the gorgeous sky—these photos typically end up being the ones you turn into a canvas for your home or two-page spread in your wedding album and especially the ones that you show off on Facebook...!

One of the keys to getting great sunset photos is proper timeline planning. This is something I'll help you do so we have the best shot at getting the photo if weather conditions allow on your wedding night.

All your photos in beautiful high resolution

Your photos can be accessed via your own personal viewing gallery.  You may also choose to keep this gallery private or share with family or friends.  You can even hide selected photographs so others cannot see them - for example your 'getting ready' photos.  Here you can also select the photos you wish to be included in your album that I will then custom design for you.

If you would like some professional grade prints, you can order directly from your gallery.  My printing supplier is one of the best printing presses in the country and are the chosen supplier for professional photographers all over Ireland. They make sure the colours are just right and that the quality of the print will stand the test of time. However, if you want to do your own prints, you have permission to do so.

Beautiful handmade albums

I strongly believe that everybody should come away from their wedding with something tangible that can be handed down to their children - a wedding album.  You have the option to include a beautiful handmade album with choices of sizes, extra pages, different styles, different cover types including a choice of 2 gorgeous Fine Art albums or the addition of parent albums.
Samples can of course be viewed in person.

Your photos will allow you to relive your wedding day

Your wedding photos are not only for you, they are also for your children and grandchildren. Your photos will be part of the legacy you leave so that your memories never fade.

Its important to point out that unlike many wedding photographers in Dublin, I'm a member of the Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA), Federation of European Photographers (FEP) and the prestigious International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP).  This all means that I'm highly experienced, talented  and my work and ethics are of the highest standard.

Photographic technology is constantly changing and I continually invest in the latest top of the range equipment to ensure my range of services and quality remain the very best on offer.
