Rachel & James in Waterford castle

Most of my business comes from word of mouth and Rachel and James’s wedding in Waterford Castle was no exception.  James’s brother got married a few years back in the Station House Hotel in Kilmessan and I covered that wedding also.  April can always be a bit iffy when it comes to weather but as usual my luck held out yet again and we had a perfect warm day.
It was an early start for me from Dublin as Rachel was getting ready in Waterford castle.  However a lovely drive down to find the preparations in full swing.  The ceremony itself took place in St John The Baptist Church in Croke which in itself is a lovely setting with views out over the Irish Sea.  Back then to Waterford Castle for the reception and of course some bride and groom photos.
Rachel and James chose an album with an acrylic cover which looked stunning and which they were over the moon with.  I really enjoyed this day not only because Rachel and James are so down to earth and great to work with also the weather and setting were perfect.  To cap it all, when I left the church at the end of the marriage ceremony I discovered loads of missed calls on my phone and then a text message to say that I had just become a dad.  My wife had suddenly gone into labour that morning and our little daughter was born just as Rachel and James were tying the knot…!! Loads of emotions but I just bottled them in as much as I could and got on with the job.  Will never forget it though…!!

Myself and Jim wish to truly thank you for being our wedding photographer. We first picked you having seen 1) your work and 2) how you work, at Jim’s brothers wedding. It was so important to us to have someone who we knew would take great pictures but at the same time blend into the background themselves. From our first meeting with you a year before the wedding you took on every bit of info about what style of photos we wanted how long we wanted to spend and exactly what we wanted to capture. On the day itself you were amazing and so unobtrusive which is fantastic when you are trying to capture fly on the wall style photos but yet you were also great at directing us for the more posed family shots. When we got home from honeymoon we were dying to see the pictures and are so happy that you got so many good shots of all our guests as well as ourselves and they are all so natural. We now have the fun job of trying to whittle down to album photos out of all the wonderful shots but we will treasure them all for years to come. Thank you so much for doing an amazing job.
