Fiona & Will's Wedding at the Brooklodge, Macreddin Village

One of the very first weddings that I ever photographed years ago was in the Brooklodge in Wicklow. I remember that it was March and we had beautiful weather so I always have happy memories whenever I’ve photographed in Brooklodge since.  This time it was an Autumn wedding which allowed for an outdoor ceremony for Fiona & Will.  I’d previously met Fiona when I was photographing her friend’s wedding in Waterford back in 2012.  We got chatting for a short while and she really liked her friends photos so both Fiona & Will were happy to book me to shoot their wedding. Both bride and groom stayed in the hotel the night before so they both got ready in the Brooklodge the following morning.  Perfect as that meant that I was able to capture both bride & groom preparations.  Autumn is a lovely time of the year for weddings (and is very popular) because of the beautiful light - it’s much softer and the sun is lower in the sky compared to summer time.  And this is how it was for Fiona and Will’s wedding - beautiful blue skies, autumn colours and pleasantly warm.  Which meant that Fiona and Will’s dream of an outdoor wedding became reality.  Brooklodge is a perfect setting for the 150 guests with sun filtering through the mature trees and right beside a little bubbling river. After the ceremony, guest lingered on outside for a drinks reception before heading back to the River Room in time for dinner.
Meanwhile I spent a short time with Fiona and Will around by the river and the beautiful covered veranda for some photographs.  Working with Fiona was like working with a professional model - she was absolutely super.  A few more photos with the bridal party before taking another short while capturing all the family photos that both bride and groom wanted.
As normal I stayed until the first dance ensuring that I captured all the speeches and cake cutting and a few more bride & groom photos before the band started playing.
I loved this wedding probably as much as Will & Fiona…!
