West of Ireland weddings feature a lot in my calendar and I had the pleasure of shooting at Lough Rynn Castle twice recently. Here is the first of these weddings from Christmas. Christina and Padraic are local to the area and Lough Rynn was a must have wedding venue for them. It was also my last wedding of a hectic 2017 and a very busy Christmas wedding season.

Christmas Weddings at Lough Rynn Castle – Christina & Padraic

Bridal preparations took place at Christina’s family home and my second shooter Dena Shearer took care of the groom prep at his family home. All very relaxed and calm…

This was a Christmas wedding but weather was great – very cold but dry. Ceremony was held in St Mary’s Church in Newtownforbes in Longford – a beautiful bright church..! Thanks to Christina’s meticulous planning, everything went on time. Even more important for a winter wedding where the available daylight hours are precious.

Onwards to Lough Ryan where we immediately went for photos as the light was rapidly falling. Hot water bottles were provided by the hotel as we were whisked to the walled garden by golf buggy..! Very grateful…!! We had beautiful light for this part and thanks to having a second shooter covering different angles for me, it meant that we could keep the session very short before everybody froze..!

So after that it was back into the warmth of the castle where by now all their guests had arrived and were tucking into cream scones and hot toddies…
Dinner call, speeches and dancing followed and for Dena and I it was back to Dublin having completed 5 full day weddings in a week.

Thank you so much to Christina and Padraic for choosing me to be their wedding photographer at Lough Rynn Castle.
