bride and groom walking through lavender plants at Glebe House Dowth

My 1 st Glebe House Wedding in Dowth – Dublin Wedding Photographer

Denise and Poric decided on a Glebe House wedding in Dowth for their big day. Glebe House is probably one of the cutest and hidden wedding venues in Louth and is a favourite amongst Louth wedding photographers. It’s charming and quaint grounds offer great opportunities for capturing amazing wedding photographs.

Denise & Poric’s Glebe House Wedding

Like so many other Irish country house wedding venues, Glebe House in Dowth, Co Louth is a little gem tucked away in the countryside close to Drogheda and Navan. Run by a lovely woman – Elizabeth who couldn’t be more helpful it’s a quiet oasis of rustic charm set in a beautiful lush setting with spectacular lavender plants adorning gravel pathways. It caters for indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies and on this particular day Denise and Poric who just happened to land on the venue by accident when researching possible wedding venues, went with an indoor ceremony in a wonderful converted barn.

Both Denise and Poric are from Co Louth but living in Canada. As many of my wedding clients are living abroad, we hooked up via Skype a couple of times before the wedding and we eventually got to meet in person when bride and groom arrived back in Ireland a week before their big day.

Due to the proximity of bride and groom on the morning of their wedding, I was able to cover both bride and groom preparations in their respective family homes outside Drogheda before departing for Glebe House for the ceremony. The converted barn made a lovely setting and even though it was overcast outside it was still nice and bright for photographs during the ceremony.

An ice cream vendor was hired in and was an instant success with guests of all ages after the ceremony. A few family photos and then about 30 minutes was spent with Denise & Poric on their wedding photos in the gardens before we had to head off to the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells for the reception. This hotel is very popular for weddings and the staff have their service down to a T..!

As usual I was there for the speeches and to the first few dances.  Had a great time shooting this wedding thanks to a great couple and great venues. The photos below represent just a small selection of photos from the day.

And, here’s what the bride had to say…..

“Living in Canada and organising our wedding back home in Ireland had its difficult moments. I spent a lot of time researching photographers and finally and thankfully found David. We did a Skype call that was so relaxing and assured us that David was the guy we were looking for. He is so easy to deal with and helpful. We met again just before our wedding and went through how the day would generally pan out. We never wanted to spend too much time from our family and guests on the day so David was prepared for this. On the day itself David was amazing. He does so much to get the pics you imagine…he is on the go all the time capturing your special memories yet you hardly know he is there. Also from my own personal experience with David, on my wedding day he was so helpful and kind. He wants you to enjoy your day. As for the pictures he captures….well we have ours for the last 5 months and we still can’t choose which ones we want for the album. They are all so amazing. I look at them all the time…..
David loves his work and it shows. He is definitely the best photographer and a lovely man. So happy he was there for our day.”
