Stunning Portmarnock Hotel Wedding

It’s always great to get a wedding close to home and equally when the couple has come recommended to you by previous wedding clients. Eva and Claudio chose to have their Portmarnock Hotel wedding at the beautiful golf links hotel right by the incredible beach at Portmarnock. A place where I went often as a kid. So feeling right at home, I was looking forward to this one..!

The preparations

The day started in Raheny where Eva and Claudio were getting ready minutes apart. This made it really easy for me to pop over to Claudio for a short while and capture him suiting up. Also had time to get some family photos in the front garden before popping to Eva where I spent most of my time. Eva was the height of organisation with everything running smoothly and on time.

The Church

Onwards to the Church where the guests were starting to arrive and mingle outside in the beautiful sunshine. Not long before they had to scurry inside as Eva pulled up with her dad in a fabulous vintage car. Our Lady Mother of Divine Grace Church in Raheny is a fabulous big church and on this day was lovely and bright. It has a long aisle though and I almost felt sorry for Eva and the girls having to walk all the way up to the alter where Claudio was waiting cool as a cucumber. Vows made and rings exchanged and it was no time before Eva and Claudio were walking down the aisle as a married couple..!

Plenty of mingling in the church yard afterwards…

On the way to the Portmarnock Hotel we stopped off outside St Annes Park for a few very quick photos.

Portmarnock Hotel Wedding

Eventually arrived at the Portmarnock Hotel Wedding. It was hot and sunny but I was getting very nervous seeing some enormous dark clouds moving in across from Malahide. However they made for a spectacular backdrop for some photos at the hotel. We spent a short while with the bride and groom along with Irish Eye Wedding Videos (totally recommended by the way) taking some photos. Around the hotel and on the sand dunes before we needed to get the bride and groom back to their guests.

Guests were already enjoying the reception by the time we got back from the beach.

The room set up for a Portmarnock Hotel Wedding

Just before dinner, I managed to get 5 minutes with Evan and Claudio as the sun had come out again and we have some beautiful light in the rear garden to the hotel.

Dinner came and speeches started where Eva also decided to say a few words.

Bride and groom were up for some sunset phots on the beach so it was back out to the sand dunes. Unfortunately the minute we got there the sun went behind a cloud and stayed that way so no amazing sunset shots this time. We did however have some beautiful light so we spend a few minutes on the dunes anyway.

And then – dancing…!!

Thank you so much to Eva and Claudio for choosing me to be their photographer at their Portmarnock Hotel Wedding. It was an absolute pleasure working with you both and at this wonderful Portmarnock Hotel wedding venue.
